self portrait (escher)

dragged down by the irony

My room mate had calls out to two of his friends last night. Both flaked on him. I spent most of the night trying to convince him he's not helpless to find and create experiences without them; that there's a world of difference between looking for something to do and complaining that you're bored. If you can't get excited about the journey, at least try to recognize that "somewhere else" won't be found where you're at!

I failed, of course. Nobody needs telling these things who hasn't already made up their mind against 'em. What has me upset is that I knew better.

Put another way, I wasted my free evening complaining that someone else was wasting their free evening complaining that someone else wasn't motivating them to get up.

I have no one to blame but myself.
