brushin' up on da mad skillz

Spent the last hour or so turning 90 degrees.

That's not a metaphor or anything. Just an old marching band maneuver which I've forgotten how to do. I still use the 180 pivot in my day to day life, but snapping 90 degrees with any sort of precision has sort of fallen by the wayside.

And now that I've practiced a while, I think I can safely say I wasn't any good at this twelve years ago, either.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who goes back to my days in Marching Band. Although I was color guard, so most of my moves were more fluid than hard turns.

eep.
I was going to say that my movements have never been particularly fluid or hard, but then the double meaning hit me and I'm going to hide under a rock now.

AHHHH!
So many things from our past we forget about, that being one of them. How bout a drill down? ;)
So which band's opener were you listening to?

Ours, of course.

The title was in spanish, and I think it described itself. Something about being a spicy latin number. Only one or two words. I want to say "Dos Equis," but that can't be it. I don't think. Is it?

Our low brass section that year consisted mainly of woodwind players. Karl and Steve were there, on baritone and Tuba, respectively. I was on Trombone. Dino was also on Trombone. There was an aggressive breakdown in the middle where the melody dropped out for a few measures, leaving low brass and percussion - we liked to twist that section into sort of a polka during off-time in rehearsal. Does that narrow it down for you?

I could sing you every part of this song, but for the life of me, I can't remember the title.

Arrgh!
