Is that place any good? I've been by, but never in.

Their sign couldn't say "the last great hamburger stand" if they weren't any good!
They are indeed, and very much so. Though, they'll put pickles and mustard on everything if you don't ask them not to. I like the turkey burger in particular (with a fried egg thrown on there for fifty cents more). And the milkshakes, I just discovered, are incredibly good but probably more expensive and fattening than I can afford to make a habit of.

That all said, if you have a Fuddruckers local to you, it's probably even better.
(We used to have one here in Ventura. Life was good then...)

You just had to mention FUDDRUCKERS! Although I like Fresh Choice, I still bemoan us losing that wonderful burger place!! In fact, coolbean98 went with my family to Fuddruckers on the night of my high school graduation, while I went to Disneyland for Grad Night. You know what? Forget Mickey, I should have gone with them!!!

Forget Mickey?!
I went to Universal Studios for grad night. Sort of.

I was on the backlot, filming Newsies.

Very strange, it being a Disney film and all. Guess they're not the fierce rivals I'd always imagined.

Anyway, I gave away my family's tickets to graduation, and spent the day as a 1920's newsboy in place of the ceremony.

In retrospect, I should have gone to Fuddruckers too.

...actually, that's not true.

Missing graduation is one of my bigger regrets in life. Not because of the ceremony - it would have been my fifth time hearing those speeches, and they weren't all that inspiring the first four. But rather, after the ceremony, when old friends vow to keep in touch. I missed that part. And I think it was a slap in the face to a whole lot of people. At least, I don't think it's a coincidence that I haven't heard from any of 'em.

Ah well. That's what reunions are for.

Oh, wait. That's right! I was in Texas for my 10 year reunion, compounding the problem.

But, see, everything comes full circle. 'cause, there was a Fuddruckers in San Antonio. And I expect I was eating there while the reunion happened without me.

Re: Forget Mickey?!
Not to sound cynical, but there were many friends I thought I'd keep in touch with, but that number has considerably dwindled over the years. The friends I still have today are what I consider lifelong friends anyway (knock on wood).

But yes, you'll always have Fuddruckers. Maybe not in Ventura, but somewhere.

death by degrees
Dwindling's okay. It's the sudden abrupt drop right at the beginning I have a problem with.

It has been open for how long now, and I have yet to go and experience Fatburger?! It's even just minutes away from work! One day I will have my Fatburger, oh yes, one day!

you know it can't possibly live up to your anticipation...
They take phone and fax orders, too. So, there's like no waiting.

You just finished a novel, for god's sake. Go eat something celebratory-like!

Re: you know it can't possibly live up to your anticipation...
I should beware of that then. I could see myself finally biting into one of their burgers and then spitting the contents out of my mouth, and saying, "Phewy, what's this?!!!"

No, I doubt it would be that bad, but I won't make it out in my mind that it is food of the gods.

As for the celebratory meal, I think I will have to let it wait after my cold sore (which had to be strategically placed on the inside of my bottom lip) heals to fully eat with gusto. Needless to say, my teeth also need to recover from eating Mamba that was in your car for the last two years!!
