Divide by Zero

If you gave me a choice between finding true love and the chance to live the rest of my life without another reminder that I'm single, I'd have to go with the latter.

If you gave me a choice between winning the lottery and the chance to live the rest of my life without another reminder that I'm broke, I'd have to pick that second one.

If you gave me a choice between perpetual happiness and the chance to live the rest of my life without encountering another happy person, it'd be door #2, no question.

After a while, your expectations lower that far.

You could offer me the world, but I'd rather have nothing.

Why?
What made you decide?

Why, indeed?
Your question gave me pause, as I didn't percieve myself making a decision. I got wrapped up in exploring ideas and reaching logical conclusions, and completely forgot I had control of the outcome.

That being said, were you trying to shake me out of it, or did you actually want to know the thought processes which lead me to that point?

Thought processes...
The discovery of new ways of thinking is one of my preoccupations. As if my way of thinking weren't enough to satisfy my needs.

belated apology
Two and a half years later, I remember you wrote this.

I think I was out of town at the time, checking in from a hotel room. I wasn't able to respond just then, and I let a lot of opportunities fall by the wayside when I got back.

Anyway, you're a fascinating person, and I'm sorry I didn't follow your journal while it was active.
