Let's make it happen.

self:
I want to build a sand castle in outer space. Why haven't astronauts done this? Are they stupid?

friend:
They'd need sand for that. And water.

self:
I'm not saying it's without challenge.

Why?
Sand... So....basically the stuff the moon is made out of?

Water is used as the cement to hold the sandcastle together. It's there to protect the castle from falling apart due to outside forces. Protection from the elements. Like wind and waves.

None of which exist in space.

I'm thinkin' the astronauts are just unimaginitive - I think they have all the tools they need.

Exactamundo.
The moon's got more dust than sand, I'm told, but you smash a few rocks together, I say close enough.

I like the water, though. Adds a nice visual touch as you try to pour it.

Meanwhile, the same vessel which carried them there could just as soon have housed sandbags and water bottles. Send two ships if you have to. It's not hard, people. Progress needs making!

Re: Why?
Whaddaya mean they don't exist in space? Didn't you see "Armageddon?" Where are you getting your scientific facts from? Science?
