mixed signals from related stories

Two very different accounts of the same event -- I'm honestly not sure whether to cheer or protest.

No pepper spray for these guys, though. I thought disorderly conduct was supposed to warrant an act of brutality?

Wierd.

The kids may say one thing, but in another article I saw, the police officer had witnesses, and the one that got maced hit him in the back of his head.

I'm going to start taking pepper spray to movies.

Clearly not the same witnesses who "said the pair did nothing wrong."

Unless... there's nothing wrong with hitting a police officer in the back of the head?

That can't be right.

We're missing something here
Okay, let's say you work at a movie theatre and some patrons complain that someone is talking on a cell phone. What do you do? Call the cops? I don't think so. There must have been more of a disturbance than the newspaper reported to cause the theatre manager to call for police backup. And how quickly could the cops get there? Five minutes? And that woman's still on the phone!

Maybe.
This assumes the officer was on duty, brought in from outside. He might have just been another member of the audience. Or perhaps teams were on standby in case of a Catwoman-related riot. Who knows?
