These are samples of longer tunes, mostly found on YMCK's debut album, "Family Music". ("Synchronicity" is not available for sale yet)

The instrument you are hearing is a Nintendo Gameboy. The genre is classic jazz, and yes, those are Japanese vocals harmonizing on top.

You have no idea how excited I am to discover this.

Or how frustrated I am that they do not yet have in place a way to ship overseas.

Likewise, attending their concert is not going to happen.

Hopefully they'll write back soon with a way for me to order, at least.

Okay. That is cool. And the Nintendo instrument reminds me of the old ALF music synthesizer card I had in my old APPLE ][ plus. I used to do stuff like program Bach into it. HERE is a sample of that so you can see what I mean about the sound.

Sometimes I remember to amazed at things like how what used to be produced by an add-on card in a computer that was physically larger than what I use at work or at home can now be done more elaborately by a small folding device.
